I'm selling a sporterized p14, understood to have been customized to sporting use by the Ellwood Epps.

The gun has a nice dark walnut stock that has been reworked and refinished. The barrel is 22 inches and has no sights. It has a cut down receiver (no sights) and a classic Williams scope mount with a 4x12 scope installed. The bluing is excellent.

Best of all, the gun has been professionally rechambered to 303 Epps. This is an improved cartridge like various P.O Ackley improved cartridges (see Wikipedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P._O._Ackley) with more parrel sides and a more vertical shoulder. In fact, Ellwood Epps (the actual person) got advice from and P.O. Ackley in developing this cartridge.

Ellwood Epps originally developed the cartridge to overcome the head separation problem that many say is associated with the original design of the 303 British cartridge. The idea is taking the tapper out of the cartridge allows the case to hold the chamber walls more firmly; limiting the ability of the brass to try to squirm forward and backward at the same time on firing. I have never seen any signs of impending head separation with this gun, but I use quality brass as well.

The P14 is a STRONG action, capability of even being built into magnums. You can use 7.62x54R loading data for this cartridge and get 7.62x54R results because the 303 Epps and 7.62x54R have identical case volumes. In fact, this is a super-cheap gun to shoot because I just take apart 40 cent-per-round 7.62x54R ammo and reload the "pull down" bullets and powder, 1:1, into a 303 Epps case and reseat the .310 boolit.

Where do you get 303 Epps cases? - just fire form good quality 303 British brass. Where do you get dies? A set of 300 Savage dies goes with the gun. These perfectly neck and should size 303 Epps cases.

There is a forum on 303 Epps on CGN .

The bore is excellent and the gun shoots tiny groups all day long.

First $800 takes this wonderful gun, without the scope. With the scope onboard I was looking for $1,000. Buyer pays shipping
