Matching St Etienne Mle 16 Berthier carbine PRICE DROP

Up for grabs is this Mle 16 Berthier Carbine (Mousqueton d'artillerie Mle 1916). This one is completely matching (even the bolt head!), though the serial prefix on the stock is quite worn from its time in service. The AC prefix means the gun started life in 1918 as a Mle 16 made at Ste Etienne, but this one was rebarelled in 1933 at Chatellerault, where it got the usual upgrades (N chamber, relieved handguard, etc.).

The receiver roll stamp is a little faint, probability from being refinished at chatellerault in 1933. Bore has good sharp rifling with a little frost in the grooves. I'd say maybe a 7/10? Lots of life left in the barrel, the round in the photo is a modern PPU factory cartridge, and these only have .323" bullets, not the typical military .327" diameter projectiles, and despite that, lots of bullet copper showing at the muzzle.

There is a repair behind the tang at the wrist. It's solid and appears to be well done.

While the gun is for sale, since this gun is a double in my accumulation, I would also consider trade proposals for different models of Berthier Chassepot or Gras rifles, or possibly a No.2MkIV* SMLE in .22.
