date of manufacture is unknown because all records prior to 1940 were destroyed when the factory was bombed during WWII. Probable date of manufacture is between 1895 and 1927 The company changed its name to G Bate Ltd. in the late 1920's. In the 1990's the firm changed its name to Bate & Cross [Gunmakers] Ltd.
all the metal parts of the firearm are covered in intricate delicate engraving.
