Up for sale is a used Ithaca 37 "Featherweight" 12 ga Take-down Shotgun that was been converted into a "Trench Gun" configuration by a previous owner. The original Barrel has been reduced to the correct 20" length with the underside scored to relieve the 3 tensioning screws of the Heat-Shield/Bayonet Mount Assembly. The shotgun was then fitted with the correct 27-hole Heat-Shield and Bayonet Mount assembly. I tracked down a reproduction M1907 Leather Sling and repro (but very well-made) M1917 Sword Bayonet, both of which mount perfectly to the gun.

The Ithaca Model 37 is one of America's longest serving and most favoured shotguns due to its bottom-feed and bottom-eject operation.  This means that the Steel Receiver sides need no openings for ejection or loading ports, reducing the ingress of foreign matter into the action.  Everything occurs beneath the gun, making it an exceptionally strong, yet lightweight design ideally-suited to Left-Handed firers due to its ambidextrous nature.  The Ithaca Model 37 found particular favour as a police and military fighting shotgun due to its bottom feed/eject action.

The base Ithaca 37 Featherlight shotgun itself is used, in Very Good external condition with wear and carry-surfaces turning from deep blue to an even brownish patina. The shotgun appears to be mechanically excellent, however I have not personally fired this shotgun and therefore cannot vouch for its serviceable condition. It feeds and positively ejects a full magazine of 4 dummy rounds plus one in the chamber without exception, and IS Slam-Fire capable from the factory as intended. According to the serial number range this Ithaca 37 was manufactured in 1959 and accepts ONLY 12ga 2 3/4" shotshells. I recommend that a competent gunsmith certify the gun safe for firing with modern low-recoil 12 ga ammunition if you plan to fire it. It is very mechanically "tight" and everything appears to work exactly as it ought to!

My asking price is $950 for everything in the photos. Shipping will be based upon the actual cost to your location via Canada Post standard parcel. I recommend that the buyer invest in Shipping Insurance, which will cost an additional $24 for this item. Insurance beyond the first, free $100 is the buyer's responsibility.
