W. Collath Underlever Side-by-Side Shotgun

W. Collath underlever side-by-side shotgun, manufactured between 1906 and 1914. Unfortunately, an exact production date is unavailable because the factory records were destroyed during the bombing of Frankfurt during World War II.

Built during the transition to modern ammunition, this shotgun features fluid steel barrels and is suitable for modern 2¾-inch upland game and skeet loads. It patterns very well and functions exactly as it should. The action locks up tight with absolutely no play.

The engraving is exceptional—among the finest you’ll find at this price point—and the gun has the quality and character that made W. Collath firearms so distinctive. The trigger guard, under lever, and butt plate are all made of horn - although I am unsure of which animal.

I originally purchased this shotgun for my collection, as I enjoy hunting and shooting with my vintage firearms. Unfortunately, the stock dimensions simply don’t fit me well, (I have a wide face so I need cast off on shotgun stocks) so I’ve decided to let it go.

If you’re looking for a truly unique side-by-side that you’re unlikely to see anyone else carrying, this is an excellent opportunity. I’ve searched extensively for another that would fit me better and have only found three examples in Canada, none of whose owners were willing to sell.

Shipping is available. A valid PAL is required.

Trades: I would consider trading for another vintage side-by-side shotgun only if it has cast-off for a right-handed shooter. I am not interested in any current production or recently manufactured firearms.

Thanks, take care!
