JC Higgins Model 20 12-Gauge 2 3/4 Pump Action

This shotgun was sold by Sears, Roebuck and Co from 1908 until 1962. The same Sears that sold mail order houses through their catalogue. The Model 20 was produced by High Standard Arms. A neat piece of history!

Engraved on the barrel is:

“J.C. Higgins 20-12 G.A.
Sears, Roebuck and Co. 583.60”

The 583.60 numbered model 20s were made in 1952, according to my research.

Barrel has a proof mark by the engraved model name, and on the opposing side it says “Proof Tested-12 Ga. 2 3/4 Chamber”. 

Barrel is clean with no pitting. The pump action cycles flawlessly. I’ve shot slugs and buckshot no problem. The internal magazine contains a removable limiter for waterfowl hunting, holds 6 otherwise. There is a factory removable choke on the end, and a factory muzzle break that significantly reduces recoil while also producing an impressive flash. Choke has “Long Range 12GA” engraved on it. It has a safety by your thumb, and a stock pad. Bead sight. Rib vent. 

Minor wear and tear normal for its 73 years of age.
