Pre-production Leitz WildCat (ELCAN C79)

This is an extremely rare pre-production version of the ELCAN C79. Developed by Ernst Leitz Canada and Commercially known as the Leitz WildCat, this is what would become the standard optical sight for the Canadian Army. This version is from a prototype production sometime prior to 1989, and features a smaller ocular than the C79, resulting in a slightly shorter eye relief. Note also the difference in the logo on the rubber cover, and the white-filled engraving. This model did not include a serial number, that feature beginning only in the 1990 mass production. This unit is in excellent condition. There is a slight bit of particulate visible from the ocular, however it doesn't seem to affect the image measurably.

This would be an important addition to any collection of optical sighting equipment.
