Original early-production Lan-Cay M9 bayonet from 1993.(Lan-Cay First Military Contract)
Lan-Cay was one of the principal U.S. manufacturers of the M9 bayonet following the original Phrobis/Buck production era. The company received a U.S. military M9 contract in the early 1990s, making these early Lan-Cay examples part of the original military-production history of the M9 rather than the later commercial-production versions commonly encountered today.
Manufactured in 1993, this is an early Lan-Cay M9 from their first U.S. military contract period.

- Production Year: 1993
- Country of Manufacture: USA
- Blade Steel: 420-series stainless steel

- Sharpening Stone: Original medium-grit stone built into the rear of the scabbard
- Buckle: Early Fastex-style quick-release hardware with period date marking
- Wire Cutter: M9 scabbard wire-cutting system
The LANCAY marking is particularly characteristic of the early period: the L and C are noticeably larger, and the company name appears without the later “Lan-Cay” hyphenated styling.
The scabbard is also the early configuration with the sharpening stone and four mounting/drainage slots. Later Product Improved M9 production eliminated the sharpening stone and changed a number of blade and finish details.
Most M9 bayonets available on the Canadian market today are much later Ontario commercial production examples, often without the sawback, and even those commonly sell around the $250-300 range. This is an actual early 1993 Lan-Cay first military contract m9, making it more interesting for someone looking for an older U.S.-made M9 rather than a current commercial example.
Condition is exactly as pictured. Unused mint condition, blade is covered by protective oil.
