People really like the Yugo M59/66. They are said to be better quality than standard SKS guns - and also include some extra interesting features. These have a reputation for great accuracy - potentially because they have NON chrome line bores.
Sadly, that lack of chrome lining became a failure point for many of these fine guns – because, after they were properly maintained for many years - in a formal military setting - many later became distributed to paramilitaries, and were used in the various Yugoslav civil wars. Predictably enough, this led to MANY guns being abused (shot with super-corrosive Yugo ball ammo, and never cleaned). And these numerous guns ended-up with rotted out bores.
This problem has become so common that you can now buy aftermarket replacement barrels for the M59/66 – in the white and without any associated parts (like the special sight block, etc.). However, if you go that route to replace the rotted-out barrel on your M59/66 you end up paying several hundreds for the part AND several hundreds more and to have your bayonet block assembly and gas block - and all that - transferred to the replacement barrel - and the whole thing has to be blued and professionally installed etc. More specifically, after you've laid out that 700 bucks - or more - you end up with a gun that still isn't right; because now it's not original/ period correct.
As an alternative, I happen to have a nice, barreled receiver - with a near perfect bore and no issues. It comes with the gas block the rear sight post add a stripped receiver without the bolt catch mechanism. You can save time money and uncertainty by just buying this setup off me and repopulating the barreled receiver with your action and barrel parts from your rotted out M59/66 gun.
As shown in the photos, this barreled receiver has been subject Yugoslav arsenal demilling (decades ago) - involving the removal of the special grenade launching sight and muzzle system, as well as the bayonet. No issues there - you just swap the ones from your existing gun and you're good to go.
The barrel is priced at $350, plus shipping
