price drop from 3100 Here is a shiny Belgian Royal Irish Constabulary (RIC)-pattern revolver in .450 CF and .455 Webley, proved pre-1893 by the Liege ELG oval proof. Designed by Philip Webley in 1867 and adopted by the Royal Irish Constabulary in 1868, the RIC pattern was one of the most successful British revolver designs of the era - widely copied by Belgian makers for civilian and export markets. Over 95% original nickel on a 130+ year old revolver is exceptional. As a pre-1898 Antique, anyone 18+ can own this with no PAL or registration.

Chambered in .450 CF, the cylinder coincidentally also accepts .455 Webley which fits snugly due to near-identical dimensions. Fiocchi .455 Webley available at Calgary Shooting Centre or rustywood.ca, or I can work ammo into the deal for PAL holders. Real leather holster available for $85.

Mechanics

2.5" barrel; rifling well-defined with scattered freckling consistent with black powder use

Fully functional single and double action

Cylinder indexes and times reliably; loading gate and ejector rod operate smoothly

Solid top frame - sturdy as the design intended

Visuals

Over 95% original nickel - outstanding for its age

One-piece checkered hardwood grip; beautiful rich grain with only minimal dings

"450" stamped on left side of frame; Liege ELG oval proof on cylinder; no other markings, consistent with Belgian production

History

The RIC revolver was one of the earliest significant British centerfire revolvers, serving the Royal Irish Constabulary, British colonial forces, and police across the Empire from 1868 through WW1. Its reputation crossed the Atlantic - Lt. Gen. George Armstrong Custer is believed to have carried a pair presented to him in 1869, reportedly at his side at the Little Bighorn in 1876. This short-barrelled Belgian example is the pattern at its most concealable.

A great piece for the British arms collector wanting iconic 19th century history in a beautifully preserved package or someone looking for a short and stowable revolver in a large caliber.
