I have an 1858 Remington revolver, it's in pretty decent shape except the cylinder.
Barrel is marked:
PATENTED SEPT. 14 1858
REMINGTON & SON ILION NEWYORK U.S.A.
It was a cap and ball revolver that was converted to cartridge cylinder by the army armoury. I was shooting converted colt cases and heeled bullets, but that wasn't working well. About three years ago a fellow in Edmonton converted the cylinder to take 45 ACP. He could only machine five of the six chambers as the sixth one was too far worn, he blocked that bore with a snap cap.
I shot about 200 rounds through it. But I have determined that the cylinder is not serviceable. The rest of the gun functions great. It is a candidate for a new or replacement cylinder, a display gun or for parts.
THIS GUN NOT TO BE SHOT IN PRESENT CONDITION, NEEDS NEW, REPLACEMENT USED OR REPAIRED CYLINDER
Can meet in the Calgary area or will ship for an additional $45.
