Antique Squareback Trigger Guard Colt Model 1848 Baby Dragoon Percussion Revolver

This is a Colt Model 1848 Baby Dragoon Percussion Revolver. These were produced from 1847 to 1850 with this one being a 1850 gun. This is a 5 shot .31 caliber with a 6” octagon barrel. Sadly this is not a numbers matching gun. The frame, cylinder, trigger guard and grip strap are matching. The Barrel, loading lever and wedge all match to an early 1849 model (roughly 20000 serial numbers later).  The cylinder stage coach scene is around 20-30% visible. The squareback trigger guard shows single letter inspection marks on each side. The grips are in very good condition with a light amount of handling dings. Mechanically in fine working condition with proper timing and strong lock up. 
These revolvers helped change the evolution of multi round revolvers with the majority to come before being Pepperbox style firearms with multiple barrels.  This revolver would make a beautiful addition to any percussion or Colt collection.
