Excellent American Civil War Era Antique Colt Model 1862 Police

This is a beautiful antique Colt Model 1862 Police Navy.  This is a 5 shot .36 calibre with a fluted cylinder. This has a 4-1/2” barrel with a clear barrel address. There is around 90% nickel finish remaining. The silver plating on the trigger guard and gripstrap is completely intact.  The grips are in beautiful condition with some light wear at the bottom. This is an all serial numbers matching revolver. Mechanically in very strong condition with proper timing and good lock up.  
The Colt model 1862 revolvers were produced from 1861 to 1873. While this revolver was easily one of Colts most visually pleasing models its sales did not do particularly well, most likely due to the introduction of metallic cartridges. Colt noticed the slow sales rate and converted many of these revolvers to cartridge making these percussion revolvers somewhat scarce on today’s market.  
No Colt collection should ever be considered complete without a model 1862 and a beautiful one like this could easily become the centre piece.
