This is a antique Colt model 1873 single action army a.k.a. “The Peacemaker”.  Colt has produced nearly 500000 model 1873’s from 1873 to present with this one being made in 1897.  This has a barrel length of 4-3/4” with a strong barrel address and 41 COLT marked on the left side of the barrel. This is a 6 shot revolver that is chambered in .41 Colt. The patent dates on the frame are sharp. This gun retains around 98% of reapplied finish. The grips are in perfect condition. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and a few very small minor spots of pitting. Mechanically in excellent condition with all 3 hammer notches working as they should creating a 4 click sound. Timing is perfect with a solid lock up. Matching serial numbers on all serialized parts. 
The Colt model 1873 is a iconic piece of history and arguably the most recognizable firearm of all time. With a solid frame and simple mechanics the 1873 was known to be hard to break and easily serviceable making it a preferred sidearm for anyone on the rough terrain of the frontier.  These were carried by everyone from soldiers to civilians, lawmen and outlaws alike.
