Antique Colt SAA single action army in 41 long colt

Model 1873 Colt Single Action Army Revolver, Nickel Plated, .41 Cal, with 4½" barrel. This neat old Peacemaker purportedly came off an Indian reservation out West and while there's no written provenance with it the carvings and markings on the grips certainly do look similar to other identified Native American used Colts. The pistol retains approximately 15%+ period nickel finish, either factory or original retailer applied, which is mostly confined to the lower frame sides, forward portion of the triggerguard, and ejector housing. The balance of the gun is worn to a smooth silvery salt & pepper appearance. Original wood grips fit perfect and show pleasing wear with traces of factory varnish remaining. Left side has old crosshatch pattern design carved at top with worn dots and indiscernible markings toward the bottom while the right side has crosshatch lines at top with "X" at center. Small chip at left lower corners with slight rounding of right corners and tiny check forming on left butt flat.

Matching serial number "61234" stamped on frame and backstrap. Correct style hammer has traces of case color along the back. Original ejector assembly (spring may be old replacement), original trigger, cylinder pin, loading gate, and most if not all original screws. Full blade front sight with sightning notch on frame opened just slightly. The action is smooth and crisp and functions very nicely with five clicks. Cylinder locks up tight and on time  Excellent bore with bright sharp rifling .
Cool gun! There are some historians who can decipher the old Lakota Sioux language as it was written and carved into items such as gun stocks so maybe this Colt has a story yet to tell!
