Antique break action .44 Russian

Antique status break action .44russian. I don’t think 44 Russian is the original caliber but it does chamber. The bore measures .434 the cylinder isn’t long enough to chamber 44/40. 200grn projectiles cycle properly, but the fiocchi 230grn bullets stick out just far enough that it won’t cycle. 

French with possibly some Belgian design features. I’ve never seen anything quite like this one before. Handle and action definitely reminiscent of the early French pin fire conversions, with the front half leaning heavily on the pryse/warnant ejector style. 

Function is flawless, near unused condition. Lockup and timing are bang on, (way better than you’d expect from a relatively unknown design) Bore is bright and strong, blueing is original and shiny. This is an absolutely beautiful firearm in every way. 

Antique status means this pistol requires no Rcmp’s transfer or registration. This pistol can be carried and used anywhere it is legal to use a non-restricted firearm.
