For Sale: Antique French Galand Revolver 12mm / .45 Caliber
I regret having to sell this one, as it is genuinely one of my favorite guns in my collection. This is an antique French Galand revolver chambered in 12mm (.45 caliber), a very advanced and fascinating design from the black powder era, developed as a solution to slow reloading before swing-out cylinders and top-break revolvers became common.
Condition & Mechanics: The mechanics are good and the revolver functions smoothly. The unique Galand extraction and ejection mechanism is extremely pleasing to operate and works as it should. Timing and function are solid. The revolver handles very smoothly in the hand and feels well balanced.
Bore & Shooting: The bore has very nice, deep rifling. I have personally shot this revolver before and have a video available. .45 Auto Rim brass appears to fit, and round-ball loads in .45 Auto Rim replicate the original 12mm cartridge very well. .455 Webley ammunition may also work, but this has not been tested.
Historical Significance: This is an amazing and important piece of revolver history. The Galand system was one of the most innovative military and service revolver designs of its era, offering rapid extraction long before modern systems became standard.
Price: $3,150 shipped.
Additional Note: I previously sold this revolver for $3,650 and later traded to get it back. I need funds at the moment, so my loss is your gain.
Legal Note: This is a pre-1898 antique firearm and may be legally owned and discharged anywhere a non-restricted firearm is permitted, in accordance with Canadian law.
