this is a Tranter 4th Model Percussion Revolver (introduced around 1856).
Heavily engraved frame and cylinder. Fluted octagonal barrel with a bell muzzle, ebony grips with ivory butt cap. Gold leaf on the top strap. Action functions very well. All nipples intact. Pin holding the rammer is lost and should be replaced. Lock up is quite solid.
It has the screw-secured, frame-pivoting loading lever assembly attached to the left side of the frame.
Built on the Adams-style solid frame with integral top strap.
- 120-Bore (.32 Caliber): In British nomenclature of the era, .32 caliber pocket models were designated as 120-bore (referring to 120 round lead balls to the pound).
