Here is a fully restored Remington New Army in unfired condition.
This 1858 has been fitted with a new 10" barrel (dusty but unfired), hand fitted stocks as well as small parts. A new mainspring and other extra small parts included.
An attempt to stamp the barrel with original markings was made but as you can see this individual felt he was committed after the first couple stamps and continued his art. It is unknown why he did this other than a lack of oxygen issue. My best to him. (To be honest it really isnt that noticable in person and can be filed out)
This build was to have a Howell .45 ACP cylinder installed as well as a .22 WMR kit. The cylinder pin in it is a modern one to fit a modern cylinder. The original antique pin is slightly larger so there is slight play in the original BP cylinder. If you want to shoot BP the pin can be shimmed, cylinder bushed, a new pin made or an original found. Not difficult. If you want to use a conversion cylinder, this is the pin you need.
You can have the barrel cut to whatever length you want. Have a look at the 5.5" versions.
Forget double actions. This is the most reliable option in regards to an antique revolver.
