Italian 1874 Service Revolver

Italian Model 1874 Service Revolver manufactured by R FAB D'ARMI Brescia in 1887. The Italian 1874's were highly regarded and don't often show up on the market. The 1874's were based on the French 1873 Service Revolver action with many obvious similarities and same reliability. 6.25" barrel. 6 shot. Chambered in 10.6mm Italian Ordnance. Many Italian revolvers such as this example had their cylinders lightly reamed to accept 44 Russian, this cylinder accepts 44 Russian with RNFP lead. The action on this piece functions well in single and double action. Double action is a bit light on retracting hammer and hammer drop thus it won't currently set off primers in DA. In single action it has strong hammer drop and sets off primers well. Most only fire in SA as it's better accuracy/more control. Timing and lockup are good, lockup has common 2mm of movement. Half and full cock work well. Bore shows very good with strong rifling, cylinder chambers show well also. Original checkered grips are in good shape, left panel has very small age related crack at bottom that's an easy glue fix, lanyard ring is removed.
