Smith & Wesson No 3 American 2nd Model Single Action Revolver. 8" barrel, 6 shot, chambered in 44 Russian. These American models don't come up often, they're definitely a unique piece with the eye grabbing 8" barrel. The extra accuracy reach of the extended barrel would have intimidated people back in the day. The action on this piece functions well. Half and full cock work great. Timing and lockup are good, occasionally one chamber under times a hair but not always. Exterior finish had turned to a smooth hue. Original walnut grips are in good shape with common dings. Extractor works well as it should and lifts upon barrel tilt to eject brass and snaps back in place upon full barrel tilt. Bore and cylinder walls rate good for the vintage with some common wear. If you need brass, lead or dies please inquire. Definitely a rare, hard to find variant of a bygone era! Antique status in Canada, no PAL required to purchase or own.
