W.H.Monks Hammer Safety Revolver in 450/455 caliber. 3" barrel, 5 shot. W.H. Monks was a gun maker/retailer located in England. This model is quite rare and doesn't show up often for sale. This model is called the hammer safety model because it utilizes a unique sideplate screw that is dialed in to prevent the hammer from being cocked. 455 fits in cylinder well. The action on this piece functions well in single and double action. Half and full cock work well. Timing and lockup are good with no issues. Cylinder walls show very nice, bore shows well for the vintage with common wear. Original checkered one piece grip is in excellent condition with no cracks, lanyard ring is intact. Exterior retains a fair bit of its original finish. Overall a great, seldom seen variant! Antique status in Canada, no PAL required to purchase or own.
