Selling 2 antique pistols as a set $1,500 for both. only selling as a set.
Not too sure about provenance. No markings noting who the maker is but given the same barrel band I believe it's fair to assume the maker is the same hence selling as a set. Perhaps Belgian?
First pistol is a Naval pistol - has all fittings in brass (this was used to avoid corrosion in the sea I believe). includes ramrod. This one has a strong lock that holds in full and half cock. I was unsuccessful in removing the nipple from the barrel. I don't have the proper tools so I did not try very hard to avoid damage as it is an antique. Air does flow through it properly.
Second is either a Kuchenreuter or Mang in Graz style duelling pistol. No ramrod.
This one also seems to be mechanically complete, however, it will need a bit of work on the lock to be functioning properly. The screw holding the hammer does not appear original. as such it is only resting with the hammer, it does not thread into the lock. the lock does not stay in full or half cock. I believe this is because the part of the lock holding the hammer is slightly bent therefore the hammer is at a very slight angle which does not allow for the half and full cock mechanism to engage properly. Similar to the naval pistol, I was unsuccessful in removing the nipple from the barrel. I don't have the proper tools so I did not try very hard to avoid damage as it is an antique. Air does flow through it properly.
