Flintlock Circa 1812 (based on a Brown Bess) This Flintlock sports a .68 cal.X 42” barrel. History galore with British Commercial Proof Marks. The Left Stamp (Crossed Scepters / Swords): This is a stylized Birmingham Proof House mark. The Right Stamp (Crown over "CP" or "GP" Cypher): This is the Definitive Proof Mark. When stamped adjacent to the crossed scepters, it indicates a commercial, non military contract piece intended for civilian purchase. Identifying the Maker as Kentland, Chance or Barnet.. Manufacturing Date Range: 1812-1814
This c. 1812 civilian-market flintlock musket features a .68 caliber, 42-inch barrel based on the British Short Land Pattern style, bearing commercial Birmingham proof marks.
