Christoph Funk took over his father’s business when his father Johann Christoph passed in 1835. Shop was located in Suhl Germany. These German shotguns are known for their quality of workmanship and unprecedented accuracy. This gun to us was a very local gun coming from the Waterloo District
In 1850, the biggest German community in Canada was in Waterloo County, Ontario, centered on the town of Berlin (renamed Kitchener in 1916). The region was originally settled in the early 1800s by German-speaking Mennonite pioneers who migrated from Pennsylvania.
This is the region this gun came from in fact it was purchased from a Gentleman which told me he could trace his family back to “Suhi”. He told me story’s about his great-grandfather using the gun to hunt ruffed grouse, wild turkeys, ducks, and Canada geese.
This is a side by side shotgun made for the upper class. This gun features engraved brass or what the Germans refer to as German silver. Has a beautiful Walnut stock with check rest & checkering.
Brass ramrod retainers & sling attachment. 24 ga.X32" barrel.
