1937 Izhevsk 91/30 Mosin rifle sent to Republican forces by the Soviet Union during the Spanish civil war.
Initially weapons deliveries from the USSR consisted of assorted rifles of varying calibers that remained from the first world war and Russian civil war. However, in 1936-1938, new production 91/30 rifles were sent from the factory. This rifle is a 1937-dated example.
After the war, these rifles were refurbished in Spain, and later sold as military surplus.
This example has a Spanish-refurbished stock with the MP-8 flaming bomb proof, and a Spanish cleaning rod.
The actions has no refurbishment or depot markings, unlike most Mosins sold out of the former USSR. It is a good example of how a pre-war 91/30 would be originally marked.
Overall the rifle is in great overall condition - decent collectible example in the same condition that it left the Spanish arsenal.
Serial numbers mismatched, as is commonplace with these rifles.
