Actually, this rifle is a pre Model 8 or "Remington Autoloading Rifle" - production date of 1912
Caliber of this one is .25 Remington
Metal finish is wearing and going grey/plum, the wood is decent but looks to have been refinished at some point in its life, has a tight tang crack that is almost not noticeable.
Looks like original sights on this one although I believe the V in the rear sight has been opened up slightly - a common "modification"
If you aren't familiar, the barrel jacket on these rifles is originally pinned to the barrel jacket head and this pin can be a failure point. The local gunsmith fix was sometimes to braze the two together which has been done on this rifle - crudely but effectively.
Have not shot this rifle but I have taken it apart and cleaned it and it appears to be in good, functional condition..
A decent, honest example of an early, uncommon 8. Many more photos available to your email.
Only selling because I have others of these and need to free up space for incoming items.
Asking $1000
Face to Face meeet in the Calgary area preferred but I will ship.
Sorry, I don't like it either but, PAL check will need to be done.
