German WWII Gewehr 33/40 (G33/40) mountain carbine, made at the Brno factory in occupied Czechoslovakia. Your receiver marking “dot 1942”identifies it as a 1942-production rifle from Waffenwerke Brünn. These were built specifically for German mountain troops (Gebirgsjäger).
Features visible:
- Shorter/lighter Mauser-pattern carbine compared to a standard Kar98k
- Distinctive steel side plate on the buttstock(to protect the stock when used as a climbing aid in mountain terrain)
- “dot 1942” code = Brno factory, 1942 production
- Retains the correct hooded front sight and mountain-carbine stock hardware and cleaning rod.
- Finish and wood has a few bumps and bruises.
These are significantly scarcer than standard Kar98k rifles because production only ran from 1940–1942, with roughly 120k–130k made total.
This is a non-number matching rifle however it does have a very strong bore and overall is in very good condition for its age. Comes with an original sling.
