1930s JGA Anschütz .22 LR Karabiner Rifle – European Walnut

JGA 22 Cal model 1 or karabiner variant Rifle.

A piece of early German firearms history made by J.G. Anschütz Germaniawaffenwerk AG out of Zella-Mehlis, Germany. The "JGA" in a stamped circle on the receiver represents the company’s classic interwar logo.

Based on that distinct cocking knob at the rear of the bolt, this is the classic JGA Karabiner variant (often historically referred to as the Wehrmanns-Karabiner style or a Flobert-action derivative).

On this specific action, closing the bolt chambered the round, but the rifle remained safe until you manually pulled that knurled circular knob backward until it clicked into the cocked position.

During the 1928 to 1935 era, Anschütz primarily used European Walnut for their JGA Karabiner stocks

Equipped with a folding open rear sight, specifically featuring a split-wing V-notch leaf (sometimes called a butterfly notch or express-style wing).

Serial number dates this to 1928 to 1935.
