History: 
The Soviet SKS is a mid-20th-century semi-automatic military carbine widely recognized for its durable construction, practical field design, and important place in postwar small-arms history. A 1952 Tula Arsenal example represents production from one of the Soviet Union’s best-known state arsenals during the early Cold War period, when the SKS served as a standard infantry arm before more modern select-fire platforms became dominant.
Manufactured at Tula, these carbines are noted for their solid machining, military configuration, and distinctive Soviet markings. The SKS design combines a short-stroke gas system with a fixed magazine and integral folding bayonet, resulting in a simple and robust platform intended for reliability in military service. Tula-produced rifles from this period are especially of interest to historians and collectors because they reflect original Soviet production standards and the transitional era between World War II infantry rifles and later assault-rifle doctrine.
