Up for sale is an uncommon and desirable hybrid of Cold War European military arms manufacturing: a Danish Contract Pietro Beretta M1 Garand receiver built out with authentic Italian BM59 factory componentry.
In the 1950s, Pietro Beretta (PB) produced M1 Garand rifles under contract for NATO allies using tooling supplied directly by Springfield Armory. This receiver bears the famous FKF Crown stamp (Forsvarets Krigsmaterialforvaltning—Danish Defense Material Administration).
When Beretta subsequently developed the BM59 to modernize the Garand platform, they produced specialized furniture, operating rods, and bolts. This rifle features those hard-to-find Italian factory BM59 parts built onto an authentic FKF Beretta receiver.
Key Stamp & Component Breakdown
Danish FKF Crown Receiver Heel: Stamped with the official Danish Crown, FKF, and Beretta contract serial number PB 5179. The machining and finish on these Beretta-made Garand receivers are widely regarded by collectors as superior to post-war US production.
Authentic PB BM 59 Operating Rod: Factory-stamped on the op rod tab with PB BM 59 alongside the original US drawing number (6528287-SA Z-2).
BM59 Factory Bolt: Correct Beretta-manufactured BM59 bolt assembly designed for smooth lockup and reliable cycling.
Unique BM59 Furniture: Fitted with genuine Italian BM59 walnut stock and handguards, featuring the distinct factory contoured pistol grip profile and integrated heavy-duty thick rubber recoil buttpad.
Conversion & Builder Potential
Prime Builder Platform: Because this rifle already features the essential Italian BM59 core parts—including the factory BM59 bolt, BM59 operating rod, and BM59 stock set—it represents an exceptional head-start for anyone looking to complete a full BM59 clone or magazine-fed conversion project.
Mechanical & Bore Condition
Bore Condition: Excellent. Borescope photos confirm bright, mirror-shiny steel with sharp, well-defined rifling lands and zero pitting or throat wear.
Action & Finish: Smooth cycling with a uniform, deep military Parkerized finish across the receiver, barrel, and gas system.
