Available for your collection is an excellent unmolested example of a 1949 Tula SKS. As a first-year production rifle, this piece is an essential "Type 1" specimen for the serious SKS enthusiast, showcasing the unique engineering of the original Semyonov design before the 1950+ simplifications.
This rifle has been professionally arsenal refurbished and remains in exceptional condition. It features the full arsenal anti-corrosion coating, providing a deep, uniform finish that has preserved the metalwork.
Historically Significant "Type 1" Features
Unlike later common variants, this 1949 retains all its specific early-production hardware:
• 90-Degree Gas Block: The rare, vertical gas port found only on the earliest '49 models.
• Cruciform (Spike) Bayonet: Correct early-pattern spike bayonet.
• Spring-Loaded Firing Pin: The original design intended to prevent slam-fires, later removed for cost-saving.
• Loop Takedown Pin: The distinct early-style receiver cover pin.
• Hand-Carved 1949 Stamp: Features the iconic Tula Star and the authentic, hand-stamped '1949' date on the receiver cover.
Condition & Accessories
• Serial fully Matching: ГМ 583 (trigger group is force matched).
• Bore: The barrel is in excellent condition with sharp rifling and an excellent finish.
• Furniture: Factory finished laminate stock with clear markings. This was an Arsenal replacement, but re-stamped.
• Full Kit: Comes complete with an authentic sling, tool kit, ammo pouch, and oil bottle.
