This is an interesting rifle; this is a rare example of an EAST GERMAN captured and refurbished rifle and is NOT an RC.
These rifles are rare on the Canadian market and are some of the best K98's as far as quality out there. These rifles were rebuilt with the best quality parts, selected for their bores and accuracy and were completely rebuilt, blued and stamped matched. Like this rifle they often demonstrate some early and late war features. This rifle for example has a wood stock but stamped bands.
As far as quality these are right up there with Norwegian K98's but luckily these were left in the original caliber.
All numbers match and the bore is very good to excellent.
Receiver produced in 1942 by Gustloff-Werke (bcd 42).
Only way you are getting a nicer example is to likely order a bolt mismatch or bolt matching rifle from the US for considerably more money.
