Extremely rare Persian VZ24 Mauser Carbine first contract with perfect Lion Crest and the serial number on the bolt is s7037. Also on the right side of the receiver below the crown and the crossed swords and the two letters, it says 17, indicating the Persian year 1317 in which it was received. 1317 is equivalent to 1936-1937.
The first contract of 10,000 VZ24 rifles for Iran was in 1929, delivered in January 1930. They had been accepted (but not issued) by the Czechoslovakian Army. Zbrojovka Brno (ZB) had a habit of selling rifles out of the CS Army inventory for quick delivery and replacing them later from new production. Sales continued through 1939 with a total of 30,000 in the three contracts with 10,000 in each contract. The contracts included three sizes of rifles with the VZ24 serving as the first ,and the fewest produced, and was the medium of the three as pictured in the photo's.
