An early example of Harrington & Richardson's .22lr “Sportster” 5-shot Bolt action repeater. This example Made in Canada at Long Branch, ON., sometime between 1945-1950 (before H&R moved production to Drumondville PQ.) and was part of H & Ri's effort to get into the civilian market after the war.
Nicely figured and finished Walnut stock with no cracks or unsightly marks. Excellent and bright bluing except for the bolt handle which is browned. Bright bore and crisp rifling. Not restored but remarkably preserved considering its age.
Has a Marbles fully adjustable rear sight and an adjustable foresight with ramp and hood. Receiver is drilled for Lyman type rear sight. 5-shot detachable magazine. Hard rubber butt plate has a small crack.
Includes a period Weeks adjustable leather target sling with Uncle Mike Q/R swivels. A very solid and well made small game or target rifle. Would make a nice addition to any H&R collection.
