Up for sale is an exceptional piece of military history: a Czechoslovakian vz. 24 bolt-action rifle, manufactured by the world-renowned Československá Zbrojovka, A.S., Brno. This rifle represents the pinnacle of interwar Mauser craftsmanship, featuring a gorgeously preserved receiver crest and a highly desirable, unit-stamped stock disc.
Key Features & Highlights
Stunning Czechoslovakian Lion Crest: The top of the receiver is crisply roll-stamped with the classic Czech double-tailed lion crest, holding the Slovak shield. The engraving is remarkably sharp and deep.
Unit-Marked Stock Disc: A rare find for collectors! The brass/steel marking disc embedded in the buttstock features authentic military unit identification numbers (51D over 1439). The stamp 51D over 1439 breaks down as follows:
- 51D: This indicates the 51st Artillery Regiment (Dělostřelecký pluk 51). In the interwar Czechoslovak military designation system, the letter "D" stands for Dělostřelecký (Artillery).
- 1439: This is the weapon tracking number or rack number within that specific regiment.
Authentic Receiver Markings: The side rail is clearly stamped with the manufacturer info and model designation: ČESKOSLOVENSKÁ ZBROJOVKA, A.S., BRNO VZ.24 alongside receiver serial markings.
Beautiful Walnut Stock: The wood furniture is in fantastic condition with a rich, dark patina, showing only minor, honest handling marks from its service era. The grain flows beautifully throughout the full-length military stock.
Excellent Metal Condition & Finish: The deep, dark bluing on the receiver, bolt body, and barrel components remains remarkably intact with minimal thinning.
Fully Functional Elements: Includes the original tangent rear sight graduated up to 2,000 meters, front sight ears, cleaning rod, and dual-sling swivel configuration for infantry/cavalry use.
Collector's Note: Many vz. 24 rifles had their crests ground off during WWII or during postwar refurbishments by foreign militaries. Finding an intact, sharp lion crest paired with an intact unit-marked stock disc makes this an absolute must-have centerpiece for any Mauser or military surplus collector.
