Offered here is an exceptionally well-preserved 1940 Italian Royal Army Carcano Modello 91/38, manufactured by R.E. Terni Arsenal and chambered in 6.5×52mm Carcano. Serial number Q6***.

The 1940 Terni M91/38 holds a unique place in modern history. The rifle associated with the 1963 assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy, serial number C2766, was also a 1940 R.E. Terni-produced M91/38 in 6.5×52mm. This example therefore shares the same arsenal, production year, model, and caliber as the famous C2766. This rifle has no direct provenance or connection to the Kennedy assassination.

This example remains in excellent overall condition. The metal components are exceptionally clean, with only light age and handling wear and no significant corrosion or heavy pitting apparent. Factory and inspection markings remain clear and well defined.

The bore is particularly impressive—bright and clean with strong, sharply defined rifling.

The stock is very well preserved and structurally solid, showing only normal service wear. Two localized impact marks are present toward the rear of the stock, one on each side, as shown in the photographs, but they do not significantly detract from its overall appearance.

Overall, this is an exceptionally attractive 1940 R.E. Terni M91/38, combining excellent condition, a particularly strong bore, and the historically recognizable same-year, same-arsenal, same-model and same-caliber configuration as the C2766 “Kennedy Carcano.”
