Offered here is an exceptionally well-preserved FN Herstal-manufactured Israeli Mauser 98, later arsenal-converted by the Israeli military to 7.62×51mm NATO.

Unlike the more commonly encountered German or Czech Mausers later acquired and converted by Israel, this rifle was manufactured by FN Herstal in Belgium for the Israeli contract. The receiver retains clear FN Herstal Belgian factory markings, the Israeli military crest, and the 7.62 marking.

The receiver and bolt are matching. Numerous Israeli military inspection and arsenal markings remain throughout the rifle, including a distinctive Star of David marking on one of the components.

Overall condition is excellent. The stock is exceptionally clean and well preserved, showing only minor normal handling and storage wear. The bore is also excellent, with strong, deep, and well-defined rifling and no obvious major pitting.

Also included is a period Israeli military leather sling, retaining Israeli markings on both the leather and metal hardware. Based on its construction, markings, and natural aging, it appears to be an original period military example.

Overall, this is a particularly attractive example of an FN-made Israeli Mauser 98, combining Belgian FN manufacture, Israeli military history, a matching bolt, exceptionally clean wood, and an excellent bore.
