The MAS-36 is one of France’s most recognizable military rifles, originally adopted in 1936 and serving through World War II, the First Indochina War, and numerous post-war conflicts. Known for its rugged construction, simple operation, and distinctive appearance, the MAS-36 remains a popular military surplus rifle among collectors and shooters alike.
This example has been converted into a compact configuration with a 18.6-inch barrel, creating a handy and practical rifle while retaining the original MAS-36 action and military character. The rifle remains chambered in the original 7.5x54 French cartridge.
The receiver is marked “MAS Mle 1936” and retains its original military markings. The rifle shows honest service wear throughout, with a solid wood stock displaying normal handling marks consistent with age and military use. Metal finish remains attractive overall and presents well for a military rifle of this period.
The bore is particularly noteworthy, appearing bright with strong, well-defined rifling visible throughout. Action cycles smoothly and the rifle retains its original magazine system.
