Original Portuguese Model 1886 Kropatschek bolt-action infantry rifle, manufactured in 1886 by Österreichische Waffenfabriks-Gesellschaft (OEWG), Steyr, Austria, for the Portuguese Army.

This rifle remains in its original infantry configuration with an overall length of 133 cm (52.4"), an 82 cm (32.3") barrel, and is chambered in the original 8×60R Kropatschek cartridge (not a later conversion). It retains the original tubular magazine, ladder rear sight, front sight, and cleaning rod.

Receiver is correctly marked "OE.W.F.G. STEYR 1886" with Portuguese military acceptance markings. The visible receiver assembly is numbered TT620, while the visible bolt assembly is numbered HH668, with the inspected bolt components remaining internally matching. No visible force-matched numbers were observed.

The walnut stock is in outstanding condition for its age, remaining solid with no major cracks or repairs. Metal finish is equally well preserved with sharp markings and only light honest service wear.

The action cycles smoothly by manual inspection. The bore is exceptionally bright with strong, well-defined rifling—well above average for a black powder military rifle of this period.

A scarce and highly collectible Portuguese Kropatschek featuring its original chambering, excellent overall condition, and an outstanding bore.
