Will ship if necessary. If GTA local sale, you will have to pick up from the west side of Mississauga. Open to trades or cash+trade. I prefer local face-to-face but I try to be accommodating. See below for possible options.
This is the 6.5×58mm unconverted Mauser-Vergueiro; with the Portuguese colonial DMGLM stamps on the stock. Manufactured by Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken Berlin. The receiver and barrel have matching serials, nearly everything else is non-matching. Will include a non-matching serial Vergueiro bayonet.
It is in quite good condition for something that served in Africa for many decades. There is a bit of pitting on the receiver at the wood line, a patch of shallow pitting on the underside of the barrel exterior. See photos. The bore may have a bit of pitting near the chamber but I can't see too well. I received it heavily greased for long storage, had to clean it. The barrel bands didn't go back on very tight, needs the spring parts cleaned up but I don't want to mess with it.
I can't speak to its firing condition because the ammunition is very rare.
Possible trade options:
- Low-end .22lr, bolt-action, North America manufacture
- Lever-action, single-piece receiver, .22lr
- 12 gauge pump-action, either 20th century models or modern clones of classic riot/trench configurations. May consider a field model. (no Norinco 1897)
- maybe a modern Benelli M3/M4 clone
- lower end SKS that is a functional shooter but below collector quality (mismatched serials, missing accessories)
- If you have something else to offer you might as well message me and try me. I am generally interested in late 19th to middle 20th century manually repeating civilian firearms.
