The time has come to part with one of the prizes of my collection. This is a very early, original straight rifle. It would use a octagonal bullet similar in design to a Whitworth, but was meant for closer range and hard hitting to take down large game. This rifle is truly beautiful, and should be in any high-end collector or shooter's collection!
The rifle's metal and stock is highly engraved, with the makers name inlaid in SILVER. A description would not do it much justice, the pictures tell the whole story. The percussion hammers are finely carved dragons, and the bores are in great condition with little graying and nearly no pitting - a wonder for an arm this old!
It is so high end, it even has swinging safties on both actions to keep the hammers off the percussion caps, allowing you to carry it loaded with caps on, for a quick snapshot at a boar, mountain goat, deer or elk!
The rifle is .62 caliber, across the flats. These are very rare to come across in any condition, and this one is in exceptional shape.
I am a little flexible on the price, but it is already very well priced, compared to what you would find these for normally, well over $1600. Only selling because I have some medical expenses that I need to cover. More pictures on request. I am asking $1495, Or Best Offer.
I hope it goes to a good home, YOUR home, dear reader! Make me an offer! Gute jagd!
