I have for sale a beautiful Sako AV Mannlicher carbine in .300 Winchester Magnum. It was manufactured in 1986-1987 by the serial number. It is in very good shape. The only wear I can see on it is some bluing loss on the muzzle(common on Mannlicher design). The rifle has only 100-125 rounds through it. Asking $1700(OBO) + shipping for rifle only. It has Williams open sights. Scope is a 3-9 Redfield Revolution scope(newer Leupold version) + bases and rings add $150.
Key Details of the Sako AV
• Production Era: The AV stamp began appearing around 1981–1982 (transitioning from the AIII) and continued until the early 1990s when the "91" series (like the M691) took over.
• Action Design: It is an evolution of the L61R "Finnbear" action. The primary change from the previous AIII to your AV was a lengthened rear tang to improve stock bedding and strength.
• Build Quality: This era is often called the "Golden Age" of Sako by many collectors. It features a deep, high-polish blue finish and a smooth-cycling, hand-finished bolt. Unlike modern rifles, these were built with substantial amounts of machined steel rather than polymer or MIM (metal injection molded) parts.
• Trigger & Safety: It features an adjustable, crisp single-stage trigger and a two-position safety that locks both the trigger and the bolt handle.
