Selling my used Parker Hale Custom Number 4. It is in very good used condition.
Parker Hale built these rifles in the 1960's using Lee Enfield No4 Mk1 receivers and bolts. In the day Parker Hale offered four versions of their Lee Enfield hunting rifle. The Custom Number 4 was the top version (see the information from Jon C Branch, the founder of Revivalier Iron+Oil+Gunpowder, below). This is a very good deer, bear and moose hunting rifle. It would also fit nicely in a collection of quality Parker Hale and Lee Enfield rifles.
The barrel was made by Parker Hale, the bore is clean with good five groove rifling. It shoots accurately. The barrel also has a hooded ramp front sight and a folding rear sight. The blue on the metal bits is very good and shows a few marks.
The Monte Carlo walnut stock is in very good condition and shows some use marks. It has a PH rubber butt pad. Parker Hale likely stocked their Custom Number 4 rifles themselves. The rifle has a four round flush fit magazine (I could swap it for a used milsurp ten round if requested).
From the factory the Custom Number 4 could be drilled and tapped for an optional side mount scope bracket (the PH Mod 29). This rifle has the PH Model 29 scope base and the RALS3 rings shown.
The Bausch and Lomb Elite 3000 3-9x40 gloss black scope as mounted and shown in the pictures functions as new, the glass is perfect, shows some marks on the body.
$500 plus actual shipping if required for the rifle alone.
$650 with the Model 29 base and RALS rings included.
$850 for rifle, base, rings, scope as shown.
PAL information required for on line verification.
"Parker-Hale also made an almost identical line-up of rifles based on the No. 4 Lee-Enfield action as can be seen in the catalog pages above. The Standard No. 4 like the Standard No. 1 was simply the military rifle with a cut down sporterized fore-end; the De Luxe No. 4 was identical to the Standard No. 4 but fitted with a Parker-Hale ramp foresight; The Supreme No. 4 was fitted with a sporting stock with Monte Carlo comb and drilled and tapped for rifle-scope mounts; the Custom No. 4 had the action modified with removal of the rear peep sight and charger bridge and drilling and tapping for Parker-Hale side mounts for a rifle-scope. The stock of the Custom No. 4 was a sporter stock with Parker-Hale rubber recoil pad, contrasting rose-wood pistol grip cap and fore-end tip set off with white line spacers."
