Your chance to have rare Winchester rifle in the fabled 7x57 Mauser caliber.
This is and very well maintained rifle with an exceptionally beautiful walnut stock featuring a “tiger stripe” grain. It is finely checkered with a “rams curl” pattern and has a schnabel forend. A tan hard rubber butt pad sports a Winchester logo (unique to the first year’s (1981) production in New Haven Connecticut.
This gun was treasured and babied from day one so it retains a new appearance as is evident in the photos, The stock has a few, barely visible light scratches and bump marks, none of which have penetrated the finish and are normal for its age and gentle use. The checkering is well defined with sharp peaks and no flattening or damage. The butt pad has light wear only at the toe. The bluing is 95% original and has a bright factory finish.
The action is smooth and functions consistently and correctly with a push feed bolt. The trigger has totally crisp let-off with zero creep. The 22 inch barrel has a 1:8 twist, designed for 175grain bullet. The rapid twist also allows all sizes of bullet available – handy for reloading including loading down or sub-sonic The bore and rifling is shiny and crisp with no chafing. The internal 4+1 magazine has a hinged floor plate for easy cartridge removal. The screw heads are sharp.
The scope is a Redfield “wide field” variable 1.5x – 5x mounted on a rugged Leopold one piece mount, The POI has not changed in 10 years. Open sights comprise a folding leaf rear and a ramped gold bead front with a protective hood.
Overall, this rifle is in excellent condition and has an exceptional stock. The 7X57 Mauser is a rare calibre sought after by collectors, and hunters wanting a very effective round.
After some discussion with fellow GP owners, and further surfing, I have again lowering my price one final time. I don’t need the money I am too old to hunt.
So the price is now $2700. Final offer.
