The 7mm STW (Shooting Times Westerner) is a powerful, flat-shooting rifle cartridge designed by Layne Simpson in 1979.

Derived from necking down the 8mm Remington Magnum case for high velocities, ideal for long-range big game hunting in open country, propelling 140-175 grain bullets at speeds often exceeding the 7mm Rem Mag and Weatherby Magnums. 

Known for excellent ballistics, it requires a long-action rifle and offers significant energy and minimal wind drift, making it a favorite for hunters seeking extreme range performance.
