The gun #41535 was sold as a 2 barreled set... 450 BP express and 12 gauge shotgun. Was purchased by Mr Pape Esquire ( lawyer ) through Calcutta Indent... for 17lbs and 10 shillings in 1902.... the gun was built by webley and Scott as a 3rd quality hammerless sidelock non ejector, this is actual email from university records.. where the rifle barrels landed...ive no idea..but...serial# 41535 barrel set as issued by army & navy... the reciever retains the webley 3 digit serial with L prefix indicates proofed in London.( locks stock. Reciever and barrel flats all match. Webley has NO record as they directed me to the university archives buttt did indicate it is a correct matching barrel set to recieve and the rib serial was the army & navy # ... 17lbs 10 schillings, was purchased price in 1903 if was today is over 6000$ CAD... NOW incorporating inflation to replicate this piece... your talking serious $...and a couple yrs wait....
Now.... the goods... bores are clean. Choked cyl and mod. 27.5 " 3 blade crolle damascus barrels, action is snap shut tight...no re working... metal was as ive had it since near 10 yrs. Patterns are very vivid. Wood is fancy stump grain walnut, checkering survived amazingly well. Fit finish is A1 no repairs..no cracks. Points and shoots incredibly as a Webley should.
Army & Navy contracted to high end prolific makers like Holland..Webley & Scott..Joseph Lang...to make high end to order guns for wealthy folk..such as Mr Pape indicated in records... I did confirm the information was legitimate and correct asking for these sales ledgers records . ONLY SOURCE ON PLANET FOR ARMY& NAVY SALES LEDGERS...so..somewhere a rifle barrel set is with same 41535 serial# as my 12 gauge barrels... how did it get here to Canada?? We assume an immigrant brought it... can provide video of it being fired. No disappointments. 3600$ due to provenance provided. Even without provenance a valuable piece for a discriminating traditionalist...lol. SHIPPING AND INS RESPONSIBILITY OF BUYER....
Cant call BS when proof is there in writing.. if I had rifle barrels with it...price would be 2x.....
