""The shotgun barrels are marked "J.J. REEB BONN" and "HOFBÜCHENMACHER" indicating this Shotgun was manufactured by Johann Jacob Reeb. Johann Jakob Reeb "J.J." (1843-1924), begins working in 1867 and by 1870 he was listed at Josephstrasse 49 in Bonn, taking over the business for Ewqld Becher. In 1872 he moved locations and was listed at Dreieck 6, still in Bonn, and in 1877 he added a larger retail business for weapons and hunting accessories. In 1883 he moved once again to Münsterplatz 17. In 1887 he adds Hofbüchenmacher (gun maker to a court) and operates a gun factory. He notably outfits two expeditions for photographer, big game hunter and animal rights activist Carl Georg Schillings. In 1909 J.J. hands the business off to his sons, Philip and Hans, and retires from the business. Hans eventually takes over leadership in 1911 in Bonn under the name 'JJ Reeb jun., Court gunsmith, Bonn"."
