WWI Austro-Hungarian M1915 Enamelled Steel Field Flask – B.G.B. Brünn 1918

Original First World War Austro-Hungarian enamelled-steel field flask, clearly marked:

The B.G.B. marking is associated with the Brünn metalware manufacturer Brüder Gottlieb & Brauchbar, also identified in historical references as the Brünner enamel, iron and sheet-metal works. Brünn is the German name for present-day Brno in the Czech Republic, which was part of Austria-Hungary when this flask was manufactured. 

This round field-flask pattern is commonly identified by collectors as the Austro-Hungarian M1915 Feldflasche. Surviving B.G.B. examples are documented in green enamelled steel, with a cork stopper secured by a retaining cord. A museum-catalogued 1916 B.G.B. example is described as an enamelled-steel Austrian field flask with a 0.5-litre capacity and the manufacturer and year marked on its body. 

The 1918 date places this example in the final year of the First World War and the final year of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. The date confirms manufacture in 1918; it does not by itself establish where, when or by whom this particular flask was issued or carried.

Multiple enamel chips with exposed oxidation

No cover, carrying harness, cup or leather strap included

No individual soldier, unit, battlefield or bring-back history is known or claimed

The flask appears substantially complete as pictured, apart from its external carrying equipment and any associated cup. It has not been cleaned or restored while in my possession. Because of its age and visible enamel loss, it is being sold strictly as a historical collectible, not as a container for drinking water.
