In the 1940s, the production of different cartridge variants of the so-called rimmed military rifle cartridge began. These different calibers allowed hunting in Finland to continue at a time when everything was in short supply.

Very rare Lapua / Sako 7x53R barrel.  At some point the barrel was removed from a Mosin-Nagant. The bore is excellent and shows no signs of wear. It shows marks on the exterior of the chamber from being removed and still has silver solder where the sights once were. A chamber cast was done to verify the dimensions- notice the dial caliper reading. The barrel measures .610" at the muzzle and is 26.5" long..  There is nothing on the barrel stating who was the manufacturer was,  I determined through internet searches where the barrel would have originated from.

If you are a Mosin-Nagant fan and would like something different than your buddies, here it is. This is not a 7.62x54R barrel but a 7mm (.284" bore). The brass can be easily made from 7.62x54R Russian brass cases by necking down to 7mm (.284" ).  The chamber cast dimensions are identical to the 7.62x54R cartridge except for the neck, due to the .284" bore diameter. This cartridge is on par with the .280 Remington (7mm-06) ballistically,  and should easily surpass the performance of many of these rifles with the proper powders in it's 26.5" barrel.

If you see "Finnish 7x53R Lapua," think of a legendary Finnish rifle cartridge known for its quality and performance, with Lapua being the gold standard for components and ammunition, perfect for serious hunters and shooters.

The specific steel used in Finnish military rifle barrels has varied over time, but notably, during the Winter War and Continuation War eras, the Finns often used high-quality Böhler steel, a chrome-nickel steel alloy imported from Austria/Germany, for new production barrels. They also utilized captured Russian barrels and imported Swiss, German, and Belgian barrels, which would have been made of various high-quality alloy steels typical for the period.

Sako 6,3X53R / 7X53R / 8,2X53R / 9,3X53R

I would consider a 7.65x53 Mauser barrel of equal quality/condition on trade, other than that I am not I am not looking for trades and I despise lowballers.

I will answer all questions to the best of my ability.
